Officially: No, only the early CECHA/B/C/E Models are Backwards Compatible with PlayStation2 Software Format, from Factory, these models contain proprietary Emulators in conjunction with real Partial PlayStation2 Hardware embedded into the PlayStation3 Mainboard, the Emulators used support PlayStation2 Peripherals and Optical Discs, after that the PlayStation2 Hardware was removed all together and Backwards Compatibility with PS2 all along.
